The single most reliable predictor of passing a Humber real estate exam is doing exam-format practice questions, not rereading the textbook. Students who drill 200+ practice questions per course pass at higher rates than students who read the textbook two or three times.
Build the practice habit early. From the start of each course, do 10-20 practice questions per study session and review every wrong answer. The review step matters — write a one-line note explaining why you got the question wrong. Students who do this consistently score 8-12 percentage points higher on average.
Take at least two timed full-length mock exams per course in the final two weeks. The first mock identifies your weakest topics; the second confirms improvement after focused study. Most failures happen because students never timed themselves before exam day and ran out of time on Course 4 calculations or Course 1's dense regulatory questions.
Spend the final week on weak topics only. The law of diminishing returns hits hard — 4 hours on a topic where you score 60% adds far more points than 4 hours on a topic where you already score 90%.
For simulations, practice reading speed. The biggest mistake students make in Simulation 1 and 2 is rushing the scenario read and missing key facts. Spend 5-10 minutes per scenario carefully reading before answering — this saves time, not costs it.
