What Is the Ontario Real Estate Exam?
To become a licensed real estate salesperson in Ontario, you must complete the Real Estate Salesperson Program — a structured sequence of courses and exams regulated by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). The program consists of four core courses, two simulation assessments, and a post-registration course (Course 5), all of which include a proctored written exam.
All exams are delivered online through Meazure Learning, a third-party proctoring platform. Each exam is 50 multiple-choice questions with a 2-hour time limit and a 75% passing score required.
The program is approved by RECO and offered by four education providers: Humber College, Algonquin College, Fleming College, and the Career College Group. All four providers teach to the same RECO competency profile, which means the exams test the same knowledge regardless of which school you are enrolled in.
Before you can register for the program, you must pass the Real Estate as a Professional Career (REAT) admission test. Once registered, you complete the four salesperson courses and two simulation assessments in sequence, then Course 5 after registration with RECO.

This is the style and difficulty of questions you will encounter on ExamAce — and on the actual Ontario real estate exams.
A buyer submits an offer with a home inspection condition. The seller counters by removing the condition. Under TRESA, this counter-offer:
Under TRESA and general contract law, a counter-offer is a rejection of the original offer and constitutes an entirely new offer. Once the seller modifies any term — including removing a condition — the buyer's original offer is terminated and the buyer is no longer bound by it. The buyer may accept, reject, or counter the seller's new offer. Options A, C, and D misstate how counter-offers operate under Ontario real estate law.

Ontario Real Estate Exam — Frequently Asked Questions
How hard is the Ontario real estate exam?
The Ontario real estate exams are moderately difficult. Each exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and requires a 75% passing score. The questions test applied knowledge — not just memorization — so students who only read the textbook without practicing questions often struggle. ExamAce students who complete at least one full set of practice questions before exam day report significantly higher confidence.
How many questions are on the Ontario real estate exam?
Each Ontario real estate course exam has 50 multiple-choice questions, including the REAT admission test, Courses 1 through 4, both simulation exams, and Course 5. All exams are administered online through Meazure Learning. ExamAce provides hundreds of practice questions per course so the format feels familiar before exam day.
What is the passing score for the Ontario real estate exam?
The passing score for all Ontario real estate course exams is 75%. That means you need to answer at least 38 out of 50 questions correctly on each exam. If you score below 75%, you must retake the exam. ExamAce's timed exam simulator uses the same 50-question, 75%-pass-required format so you know exactly where you stand.
Can I retake the Ontario real estate exam if I fail?
Yes. RECO permits exam retakes if you do not pass on your first attempt. Retakes are subject to scheduling through your registered education provider and applicable fees. Consistent practice with realistic questions is the most effective way to avoid needing a retake.
How should I study for the Ontario real estate exam?
The most effective study method combines reading the course material with active recall through practice questions and spaced repetition. Simply re-reading notes is a low-retention strategy. With ExamAce, you practice questions in the same format as the real exam, get AI explanations for concepts you misunderstand, and let the spaced repetition algorithm focus your review time where it matters most.
Which RECO-approved providers does ExamAce support?
ExamAce supports students enrolled at all four RECO-approved education providers: Humber College, Algonquin College, Fleming College, and the Career College Group. All four providers teach to the same RECO competency profile, so our questions are relevant regardless of which institution you are registered with.
Is ExamAce affiliated with RECO or Humber College?
No. ExamAce is an independent exam prep platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO), Humber College, Algonquin College, Fleming College, or the Career College Group. We reference these institutions descriptively because they administer the program our students are preparing for.
