The final pre-registration course covering how to launch your real estate career. Free preview includes one full lesson and 10 practice questions.
Exam at a glance
Course 5 is the final pre-registration course in the Humber salesperson program. Unlike Courses 1-4, Course 5 has no proctored examination. It is delivered as guided online learning with embedded knowledge checks. Completion grants eligibility to register with RECO and begin practising real estate.
What gets tested most
- Choosing a brokerage: independent vs franchise, commission splits, desk fees, and broker support models
- Setting up your business: registration, HST, professional insurance, marketing budgets
- Building your client pipeline: sphere of influence, social media, open houses, referral systems
Common traps that fail students
- !Joining a brokerage based purely on commission split. Desk fees, training, and lead provision matter equally
- !Underestimating the first-year cost of running a real estate business. Most new agents spend $5,000-$15,000 before their first commission cheque
- !Skipping the Course 5 modules. Humber's post-registration audits flag agents who rushed through, which can affect future registration renewals
Recommended study plan

Complete each Course 5 module fully. There's no shortcut and the content is useful for your first year

Interview 3-5 brokerages before choosing one. Bring a checklist of split, fees, training, and lead support
- 3
Build a 12-month business plan during Course 5. Many top producers do this exercise and credit it for their early traction
- 4
Connect with 2-3 mentors in your area before registering. Find them through Humber's alumni network or local real estate boards
- 5
Register with RECO immediately after completing Course 5. Eligibility expires 12 months after course completion
